Data Engineer
Full time - The Hague, Netherlands
5+ Years Experience
Want to develop technology to feed the world?
AI is revolutionising agriculture at a fast pace. From farm to fork - every link in the value chain will become data-driven. VanBoven plays an important role in this transition by providing vegetable growers with the tools needed to develop accurate harvest predictions. This information is crucial to producers, distributors, wholesalers, industry and retailers in order to optimise the value chain and reduce food waste.
VanBoven develops harvest predictions based on high-resolution imagery. Our algorithms extract physical plant traits using object-based image analysis. By tracking these traits over time we determine how much produce a grower can harvest over the next few weeks.
We have commercially launched in our first crop (broccoli) in 2020 and are currently scaling up. 40% of all broccoli grown in The Netherlands already moves through our system! We work with major growers, purchasing organisations and retail (e.g. Lidl).
